How do I use preferences to prevent the right side Tools Pane from ever opening

$

I cannot figure out how to prevent the right-side Tools Pane from EVER opening with a document.

It seems like an earlier DC release added an "Open Tools pane for each document" setting but this looks to be replaced with "Remember current state of Tools page". How do I set the state to it's closed from the start and never opens? Otherwise users have to see the pane at least once and close it. Every frustrating.

Any ideas?

I am using Reader 2017.011.30066

Telling the difference between Standard and Pro

Hello,

I have to hand it to Adobe - I've never come across and application that sells 2 separate versions, with a cost difference of over $100, that they intentionally made it nearly impossible to distinguish between one another.

We use SCCM, and from what I can tell, Adobe Acrobat DC Pro & Standard both have the same GUID, version number, and display name.  How in the world are we supposed to accurately track our licenses?  We use ServiceNow's Software Asset Management module, integrated with SCCM, to manage software licenses.  It can't tell a difference, and even I as a human, and a 10 year IT Pro, can't either.

Can someone please tell me how I am to accurately manage my Acrobat DC software licenses?

Thank you

Prevent Acrobat update from installing the Chrome extension

Hi all,

It appears the latest Acrobat update installs an extension for Google Chrome. Is there any way to prevent this?

I am aware that it would be possible to block the extension using the "Configured extension blacklist" Google Chrome group policy, but I don't want to block it entirely, just prevent it from installing automatically.

Adobe Update Issues

[Moderator moved from The Lounge to Enterprise Deployment (Acrobat and Reader).]

Hello!

We are enterprise Adobe Acrobat users, and deploy product updates via GPO. We recently noticed our Adobe Acrobat product is not automatically updating, although Adobe Reader updates are coming through without issue.

I tried utilizing an Adobe .admx without our Group Policy Management to see if that would help, but products still are not updating.

We have about 25 users with Adobe Acrobat licensing, and Creative Cloud is saying Adobe is up-to-date, but it is not and keeps coming back as a vulnerability on our monthly vuln scans because it is not up to date.

To fix this issue, currently, we are having to uninstall/reinstall Adobe completely for every single end user with a license. A process that takes about one hour for each user... and will have to be repeated for future updates.

I have already tried the suggested troubleshooting to get Creative Cloud to recognize the updates and it is still saying Adobe is up-to-date (and it still is not). Is it being blocked by our firewall? Do we need to make some kind of exception there to allow updates through? Could not find any info on this...

Just wanted to reach out for help before uninstalling Adobe Acrobat for 25 end users... a task I am not looking forward to.

Thanks,

Meg B.

Problems with Adobe Acrobat DC 2016/2017 edition recognition

Software recognition for Acrobat DC 2016 & 2017 is a challenge. The SWID (SWID Tags - Software Identification (SWID) Tags - The Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) - NIST )  tags used for recognition aren't working. When we view Windows Programs and Features we see Adobe Acrobat DC. This becomes a huge challenge when you are managing hundreds or thousands of installs/licenses and you are unable to tell the difference. This problems extends to some of the larger vendors who offer software asset management solutions as well as tools like Microsoft SCCM. How can we resolve this?

After installing Acrobat Pro or Reader DC we are getting file association reset issues.  It rolls through a few files types and reassociates them with Edge instead or the Acrobat applications.  We have tried a few things but this keeps happening.

I suddenly cannot open my already installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro

I suddenly cannot open my already installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro. I installed it 8/22/17 and have been using it every day, all day. Now all of the sudden, it will not open and I cannot even find the app in my Creative Cloud to update it. I have done the windows program repair and updated my computer, but none of that has helped.

Acrobat Reader 15 DC: Updating via SCUP

$

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installed on my Windows 10 workstations.  I keep them updated via SCCM using SCUP catalogs.  However, my installs seem to be stuck at version 15.020.20042 and don't seem to be updating beyond that.  I have the following Acrobat and Acrobat Reader catalogs provisioned in SCUP and am importing all of the available updates into my patching deployments:

Adobe Acrobat DC Classic Track:  http://armmf.adobe.com/manifest/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/AcrobatCatalog-2015.cab

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Classic Track:  http://armmf.adobe.com/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/ReaderCatalog-2015.cab

Adobe Acrobat DC 2017 Classic Track:  https://armmf.adobe.com/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/AcrobatCatalog-2017.cab

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2017 Classic Track:  https://armmf.adobe.com/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/ReaderCatalog-2017.cab

Adobe Acrobat DC Classic Track Transition Catalog:  https://armmf.adobe.com/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/ReaderTransitionCatalog-2017.cab

Is there something I'm missing here?  I see the MUI versions of the updates in my list of available updates for Acrobat Reader, but nothing for the straight Reader DC install.  I'm trying the MUI install on a test machine now to see if that gets updates, but so far nothing is being detected.

Thanks,

Which Adobe Reader version would you recommend for enterprise?

We currently have Adobe Reader XI deployed and should migrate to newer version soon. However, as far as I know there are three options available:

  • 2015 (Classic Track)
  • 2017 (Classic Track)
  • 2017 (Continuous Track)

We have decided to use Continuous Track for Acrobat. Which option would be the best for us? Could the be any compatibility issues with using Classic Track for Reader while using Continuous Track for Acrobat?

Thank you very much in advance.

Acrobat DC 2017 "Sign in required"

I have been trying hard to make the Acrobat 2015/2017 installations work for us, but I am still having trouble. The 2015/2017 installers and serials work fine for manual installation . The problem is after the software is installed the user is forcibly prompted to logon. I have already done the following and failed each time:

1. Using the “adobe_prtk.exe” tool with the following command:

adobe_prtk.exe --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}AcrobatESR-12-Win-GM --serial=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx --regsuppress=ss

The above produces the following:

Return Code = 25 or 14 instead of 0

2. Run Adobe Acrobat DC Customization wizard, add serial number and “Grant Offline Exception & Disable Registration”

This produces the error “Offline exception grant process failed”

Here is what is shown in the bottom of the log file:

I have called adobe multiple times and waited for hours. nobody ever answers the phone. I need this issue resolved ASAP.

Adobe Acrobat 2017 Citrix user EULA

$

I was recently tasked to install Adobe Acrobat 2017 on XenApp 7.1x. The serial number was provided and according to the vendor it is compatible with a multi-user environment such as RDS and Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop.

The install was not performed using any customized MSI to inject EULA or anything, just manually as an administrator accepting the default settings in the GUI.

However, users are now getting prompted to accept the EULA each time and it never sticks, even though I'm roaming their Adobe appdata.

I've tried setting the registry Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2017\AdobeViewer\EULAAcceptedForBrowser REG_DWORD=1, but that does not seem to work

Trying to get hold of a Adobe support appears to be impossible.

Anyone on the forum who can share how to rectify?

thanks

start installation with setup.exe and transform mst file

Hello

I'll install Acrobat Pro 2017 with an mst File over setup.exe and not over msi File. Should be possible:

See this information here: Installation options — Acrobat Customization Wizard DC for Windows

Remove all versions of Reader: Removes old versions of Reader currently installed on the destination system and sets the REMOVE_PREVIOUS_READER property. The property can be used in tandem with REMOVE_PREVIOUS when earlier versions of both Acrobat and Reader need to be removed as part of a new Acrobat install. Note: If the installed Reader is lower than DC product install (11.x or earlier), this option works for both setup.exe and .msi installs. However, if Reader DC is installed and should be removed, the install method requires the use of setup.exe during deployment.

Can anybody help me?

Why I ask this:

I'll deploy Acrobat Pro 2017 with an VMWare Mirage App Layer, and in the Base Layer there is already the Reader installed.

What does cTrustedForPV do specifically?

What does the cTrustedForPV preference do specifically? It is not listed in the Preference Reference http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/index.html. It can be found as a cab under cTrustedSites or cTrustedFolders; those can be found under TrustManager in HKEY_CURRENT_USER, after a trusted site or location has been added. It appears to disabled Protected View completely, but again, it is not listed in the Preference Reference.

Protected View with Acrobat DC 2015 fails, in IE Enhanced Protected Mode?

How can one enable protected view in Acrobat DC 2015 when Internet Explorer is running in Enhanced protected mode?

On a brand new Windows 7 install, followed with the installation of Adobe Acrobat DC 2015.006.30355, setting Protected View to All Files, and checking the box for Enable Enhanced Security, Protected View works in the browser as shown in the below screen shot.
IE Enahanced Protected Mode OFF.png

However, after turning on Internet Explorer's Enhanced Protected Mode, protected view does not activate in the browser as shown in the below screen shot.
IE Enahanced Protected Mode ON.png

Please advise how this can be corrected for. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Acrobat DC Update 15.006.30355 fails

If I try to update Acrobat DC manually, I get a message stating "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'AcroPro.msi' in the box below.'

The default path is C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\0NE006EC\

If I try to allow the corporate software updater to work, it simply fails.

I am on a corporate network using Win7.

Any thoughts on how to get this to work?

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and SCCM deployment

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but the "contact us for help" options just kept sending me to the same page over and over again.

I recently jumped through all the hoops attempting to push Adobe Acrobat Pro DC through our SCCM server and have run into several issues.  For one, it will not actually call the Acrobat Pro installation to put it onto the computer.  It does however show that it is "installed" when you log into the cloud on said PC.  Has anyone had issues with this before?

We are running SCCM version 1511.  Thank you very much.

Another Proxy Message that won't go away

Corporate network, 100+ users working happily.

One user of Acrobat Pro, signs in via help/sign in and is immediately prompted for proxy creds.

I had it once before and I'm sure i deleted a file or folder maybe under common files - but can't remember and can't find it now.

Why is it so hard?

Don't respond with "whitelist these url's.................." the rest are working fine, it's another Creative Cloud opportunity !

Because we love spending time on this sh*t.
