Acrobat 2017 Pro Fails to automatically upgrade with 1706 error

We have Acrobat pro 2017 here installed for about 150 users.  We deployed the 2017.008.30051 version and used the Customization wizard (CustWiz1502020039_en_US_DC) to dial in many settings for the software (we created a transform file that does this and it works well).  We originally had deployed the software with the upgrade disabled, but have since decided we would like to get automatic updates enabled.   We found the appropriate registry settings to get that process started:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM]
"iLogLevel"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2017]
"Check"=dword:00000001
"Mode"=dword:00000003

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2017\FeatureLockDown]
"bUpdater"=dword:00000001

We have tested this on the 008.30051 version, as well as the .011.30096 version, but have found that though the update process starts, it fails out claiming no valid source file could be found.   From the ARM service logs, I can see the update fails with a 1706 error after it downloads the current upgrade file for adobe 2017 (Acrobat2017Upd1701130127.msp) and at least makes an attempt to execute it.   Our goal is to get the 150 installs that are deployed successfully upgrading to the current version of Adobe without having to manually upgrade each one, and keep that automated process in place going forward.    We can push out those group policies easily, but we are missing something else since after repeated testing, we keep ending up in the same boat.

Other things we know:

-these installs will upgrade successfully if you manually check for updates within Acrobat

-using the downloaded .msp file will also successfully upgrade the 2017 installs (that file is not corrupt)

-Arm is running at: Adobe ARM 1.824.31.1644

Below is the chunk of the Adobe Arm log where it fails to upgrade:

Tools pane customization (DC) question

Hi,

At Tools Customization (DC) , it says:

Add entries with a key and tool name under cDisabled to remove tools. For example:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\(productname)\(version)\FeatureLockDown\cAcroApp\cDisabled] "a0"="CreatePDFApp" "a1"="CommentApp" "a2"="PagesApp"

What the "a0"="CreatePDFApp" means?

Does it mean to create a Key named a0 under cDisabled on the left and then move to the right to set Name: Default's Data to CreatePDFApp?

Or does it mean under cDisabled, go to the right, right click, choose New/String Value, set Name to a0 and Data to CreatePDFApp?

Thank you for help.

Windows Server 2016 Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 EULA always popping up on startup

Hello Adobe Customer Support,

i´ve got a problem within our Windwos Server 2016 environment.

We recently installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 for our customers on Windows Server 2016 systems.

The licences were bought by our customers directly at your shop and then transmitted to us, to install the Software.

The Licences are all User-specific with own UserIDs.

Now every time a user is logging on to our systems and starting the Adobe Acrobat 2017 Pro the programm opens.

But after a few seconds the start-screen closes and the window for the confirmation of the EULA opens and you have to click on "accept".

This is very nerve wrecking because the users have to agree each time they log on.

The other problem is, that even if they log on with their individual UserIDs, theses datas won´t save on logoff and also have to be entered every time they log on.

I have already tried following possibilities:

- Uninstalling and reinstalling the program

- execute a repair-installation over the button help

- delete the _LicenceAgreement.xml in the programs folder

- set the EULA registry key under Users\Software\Adobe\Acrobat... to "1"

- delete the whole user registry key of Adobe

None of the above ways seemd to solve the problem.

Reader DC Appv Package crash.

Hello,

I'm trying to sequence Acrobat Reader DC with AppV 5.1
I followed the deploiment guide : https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/VirtualizationGuide/appvreaderDC.html

Everything seems to works well, I put my package on my app-v server, publish it in global mode and when I try to open the app : it keeps crashing.

I found some tips on technet forum asking to disable arm service (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/f4358ecb-72ad-4cfa-9498-8d7009db 3d7b/error-when-starting-adobe-reader-11-appv-package?forum=mdopappv ) but I got the same issue.

After checking the Event log I don't understand how to fix the issue (error log at the end of the post)

Anyone got some idea ?

Thanks,
Nicolas.

What is the best way to administrate multiple licenses of acrobat pro?

$

Hello,
i want to deploy four copys of adobe acrobat pro to specific computers / employes but still be able to have controll over the licenses. I already have the four licences so switching to a cloud product is no option for me. Is it possible to registrate all copys on a single adobe id or do i need an enterprise id? Does every employee need an own adobe id or can i deploy acrobat without the user noticing anything about adobe accounts?

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Privileged Locations doesn't seem to work with this version as it did in reader 11.x

I have used the deployment wizard and put in the folder path, also tried file name

however each time the pdf file that I want opened on a file share it will give me the security warning

do you want to continue and I have to press allow

This worked great in reader 11 but not in reader 2017 dc classic

using the customization wizard

during reader install I can check the register and those entries are there but it doesn't work

Different versions in different languages

Hi All,

For Enterprise deployment we always use the enterprise download of the Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution . The latest update (Reader DC 2019.010.20098) is only available in English and not in the for my disired language (Dutch). The highest Dutch version that can be downloaded is Reader DC 2019.008.20071. Does anyone know why the version in English is higher then the others?? I really like to have version Reader DC 2019.010.20098 in Dutch.

Thank you in advance.

Hello guys,

I want disable "Sign-in" dialog to avoid everyone needs to login with Adobe ID.

So I use "Grant offline Exception" function in Acrobat Customization Wizard.

And it's successful.

wizard.png

Then, I tried on Windows10 VM. Also "Sign-in" dialog didn't prompt. (it seems work.)

However, it DID NOT WORK on Windows 7 Host. "Sign-in" dialog prompts EVERY TIME when i open Acrobat

(I use Setup.exe to install)

MST is indeed in setup.ini

Thanks for help.

Problem upgrading Adobe Acrobat DC

Hi.

I use Munki to distribute application in my Mac environment, also for Adobe Creative Cloud packages.

The only problem I have is with Acrobat DC, I'm trying to update my previous installation of Adobe Acrobat DC 18.011.20035 to the new 19.010.20091 release.

During the silent install/upgrade I can see these error logs:

I use a ChoiceChangesXML file to exclude the installation of AcroServicesUpdater. Anyway if I don't use this, installing all subpackages, the issue is the same.

Has anyone ever used Munki with the new Acrobat DC 19?

I tried to use Packages tab in the Admin Console of Adobe web dashboard to create the install package but, as 18 release created with Creative Cloud Packager, it can't create a right installer for Munki. So I used the Acrobat_DC_Web_WWMUI.dmg file created by CCP in the Library Cache folder.

Please let me know, thanks.

Bye, Morgan

When a document is opened in Acrobat DC, a pop-up appears asking "Are you still [my email address]? If yes, click continue." Used on the same enterprise computer, email the same, Adobe sign-in the same every day. Is there a way to stop the pop-up?

Can someone validate my license expiration date?

$

As indicated below on the license pictures, the license for ACROPRO 2017 our Government organization purchased expires May 31, 2019.  What I wanted to confirm is on page 2 where the "Licensing Program" is indicated as CLP 5.0 LICENSE PROGRAM - GOVERNMENT.  As I understand it, the CLP is a "Perpetual licensing through a 2-year agreement" program as described in the "how to buy" section of Adobe's website.  If that is what was purchased, should the expiration date not be May 31, 2020?  Can anyone confirm this and/or point me in the right direction for remediation if that is in fact the case?

Thanks!

Adobe Constantly Taking Over - Enterprise

$
0
0

Hello,

I work in an enterprise environment as our System Center administrator, so I push out Application installs and software updates in an automated manner.  My question pertains to Adobe Reader DC and how it reacts with other professional Reader programs.  Due to the high cost of Adobe Acrobat Pro, we have opted to use Acrobat Reader DC (the free version) for people who don't need to edit, sign or convert; and Nitro Pro for users who do.

However, whenever I push out an adobe update, it constantly tries to take over as the default.  So basically now, every time I push out an Acrobat install, I have it repair Nitro right after that, which makes it take back over as default - simple enough.

My next problem arises with the two Internet explorer add-ins conflicting with each other.  As of right now, I just had at least 5 computers who couldn't open attachments through CRM, because the Adobe Add-in re-enabled itself.  I checked all of my deployments, and none of these users are getting any Nitro or Adobe software pushed to them - they haven't had a change in their PDF software in at least two weeks.

Is it possible that a security update for Flash would be so invasive as to re-enable the Acrobat Reader add-in?  Were there any March or April Windows Updates that contained fixes for Adobe, that would re-enable the update?  Reader is acting like a drunk guy at a night club, it just doesn't know how to say no.  No means no adobe!

Okay seriously though, has anybody seen similar behavior?
