PDF User preferences with Roaming User Profiles
Hello,
We are having an issue in our environment that we haven't been able to resolve. We are running Windows Server 2012 R2 terminal servers and users are using Roaming profiles. The issue we are having is that if there is more than one PDF viewer installed on the terminal servers (Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader for example) when the user chooses a default PDF application, once they log off and back on, that default preference is lost. They once again have to select their default PDF viewer, every time they log in. If there is only one PDF application installed on the server, the setting is retained without an issue. Also, if you use a local profile, even with multiple PDF viewers installed, the default setting is retained without an issue. We've tried using GPP to set the registry key to set the default viewer, however, the value has a Deny Write value applied to it. We've also tried scripting an export and import of they key upon logoff and logon respectively, however, the same issue prevents that (the deny write value on the registry). HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.pdf\UserCh oice\Progid
We've contacted Microsoft support, and they told us this was a 3rd party issue because the only file extension with this problem is the .pdf file extension. We also setup a test environment with only roaming profiles GPO setup and were able to duplicate the issue and make sure there wasn't a GPO causing this problem. Any help or guidance you could provide would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
Dell digital delivery, Adobe XI Std and Serial Number
We ordered a lot of new Optiplex 3010's for business. We also specified Adobe Acrobat XI which only comes through via Dell Digital Delivery now. So we do not get a disc or a serial number card anymore.
We set up a model computer exactly how we want it. You know, run through all the nag prompts, import a script to customize pinned applications to the taskbar, accept first time license agreements, ensure all the software we need is installed and configured. Then after this is done we remove it from the domain again and as a local admin we go through everything one last time to make sure things are custom the way we want. We then take an image using Acronis (boot to it from network). Then we go back in and run the Windows 7 sysprep utility that points to an xml file with things like copy profile = true, and others.
After it shuts down we image it again so we have an after image. Now we just use Acronis and put this image on all of our Dell Optiplex 3010's. When its booted the only thing it asks for is computer name, and then once its booted we join it to our domain. Prior to deployment we run appwiz.cpl, go down to Microsoft Office 2010 and hit "Change" and choose enter a product key, and then we enter the product key from the computer that it is replacing.
Now today I got an e-mail from someone with one of these new computers along with a screen shot from Adobe Acrobat XI (which remember is via Dell digital delivery and we have no serial cards or installation media anymore).
It says The serial number 1016xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is already in use by the maximum allowed computers. You need to deactivate another computer within 25 days to use this products. Then there are two options:
- Retry activation. I already have deactivated one of my other computers.
- Provide a different serial number.
Well since Dell did not distribute Adobe key cards, where would I get another serial number from? I imagine the one presented was used in the original image. However Dell digital delivery verifies by the service tag that the PC is authorized for Adobe and it should have taken care of all of this. So what am I to do here? In the future if we do not choose this method and instead go through another retailer for Adobe Acrobat XI Standard, then we will get a CD and key card for each computer we deploy, although its much more expensive... were talking $150 vs the $50 add on for it when customizing the Dell computer.
So thanks for any input. I realize this could be an Dell problem (so I posted over there as well), however this was installed via Dell Digital Delivery and Dell did not send out any keys.
We legitimately paid for this. In the previous round of Optiplex 3010's when we could order Acrobat X standard, we were given a key card. After sysprep I would run a script (AAMEE was installed in the default image) to change the serial number via the command line. But now Acrobat XI is different and I'm not sure what to do. Dell doesn't even give us an option for Adobe X anymore, or else I would have just used that version which worked fine.
[Acrobat Reader DC] HKCU registry keys are not replicated for each user as for Adobe Reader
For Adobe Reader, all the registry keys which are added with the Adobe Customization Wizard are automatically added to each user. Unfortunately, it is not the same with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
They registry keys have to be stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2015\Installer\Migrate to be automatically added in the HKCU of the user at its first launch of the application. But they are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[RegistryHiveName]\Installer\Migrate, as we can see on the screenshot below:
The problem is probably coming from one of the custom actions. The variable RegistryHiveName is not translated. I didn't make a lot of research, but waiting on a solution from Adobe, I made a PowerShell script which move the registry keys to the correct place:
Move-Item -Path 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\`[RegistryHiveName`]\Installer\Migrate\*' -Destination 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2015\Installer\Migrate' -force(PowerShell has to be executed in 32 Bits)
If Adobe can correct it in the next version, it would be nice !
Acrobat Pro install issue, windows
I'm having an Acrobat Pro install issue, previously to install Acrobat Pro (Creative Cloud) for Windows we had to use this command at the command prompt
exceptionDeployer --workflow=install --mode=pre
now it doesn't work (new year, new acrobat pro?) but if we change pre to post it seems to work. Is this the approprate fix?
Thanks
Acrobat DC remove access to cloud services (Mac)
Hello,
Does anyone know how to customize Acrobat DC settings to remove access to the cloud services? This is for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015.006.30094 on Mac 10.10.5.
Thanks!
Sysprep removes Adobe licensing from my golden Windows 7 image
I installed Acrobat DC and Adobe CC on Windows 7 with our custom installers. That works fine. I then sysprep /oobe /generalize the image for deployment with Clonezilla. The cloned PCs have lost their Adobe enterprise licensing. How can I work around this?
VMWare Horizon is smart enough to preserve Adobe licensing for our VDI machines, at least for Acrobat (haven't tried CC yet). Plain Windows sysprep on real PCs, not so much.

Acrobat 11.0.09 With IE11 - Not Compatible With Enhanced Security
We've packaged Acrobat 11.0.09 for deployment with the Customization Wizard and the install goes fine. We are having issues when try to view linked PDF files in Internet Explorer 11 (Enhanced Security is on) on Win7 64-bit PCs. We are receiving prompts asking us to allow opening of these files. I was under the impression that starting with Acrobat 11.0.07 IE11 Enhanced Security was fully supported? One thing I did notice is while viewing the IE11 add-ons, the "Adobe PDF Reader" add-on shows as 32-bit, any way to load the 64-bit version of this? Thank you.
how to manage acrobat licences?
I have purchased 13 Adobe acrobat licenses for my company and used couple of them there and here. Now how to find out how many licences are in use and incase one user is discarded his/her computer how to transfer that license to a new system?
Reader 10.1 update deployment through SCUP losing customizations.
Hi All,
I am currently in the process of testing the deployment of Adobe reader updates through the published SCUP catalogs and SCCM in a very large enterprise environment. I have run into an issue whereby %95 of workstations appear to be falling in scope for the base 10.1 update package and not just the msp patch. When testing this 'Adobe Reader 10.1 English' update the result is all corporate customizations that were built into the original 10.0.1 package are removed and the application returned to default settings.
Is anyone able to provide any guidance on the deployment of Reader X updates through SCUP in such a way the corporate settings are not lost?
Regards,
Ben
I have been given a number of licence keys my company purchased for Acrobat but I don't know the status of each one. How can I tell which key is free?
I've inherited a spreadsheet with a load of licence keys and nothing else, no boxes, no account details, no version details, just keys. They were purchased legit by my predecessor who was awful at logging licence keys and now I need to determine which keys are free to use on other machines. I suspect these keys were once used on laptops that are no longer in use and possibly destroyed. What are my options?
Thanks in advance.
How do I keep updates enabled but disable DC update prompt?
I would like to keep auto-updates enabled for Adobe Reader XI but I do NOT want users to see a prompt to install Adobe Reader DC. Is there any way to do this? It is popping up an our terminal servers, it is popping up on our desktops and it is popping up on the computers of our remote workers. This is extremely irritating and is causing support headaches.
I already have a customized MSI installation that I use. Any additional options to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance!
Chris
Reader DC not set as default after using customization wizard and SCCM. Windows 10 Entx64
Hi there,
we use SCCM to deploy software and configured Reader DC similarly to how we used previous version of reader.
Part of this process is make reader the default pdf handler
When deployed as part of a task sequence, Reader is not the default for any user. (Edge remains the default)
When deployed as an application and installed by 1 user, reader becomes the default for that user, but no other users.
Any ideas on whats needed to resolve this?
How to remove "add account" in Reader DC
I am testing new package deployments of Adobe Reader DC prior to releasing it.
I have used the customization tool for Adobe Reader DC to create a MST file so its a tailored install. The only thing it seems is, I can not alter or remove is the "add account" for Microsoft Share-Point.
At this time our organization does not have Share-Point and possibly not anytime soon.
How can I remove/disable that option? I would rather not spend the administrative overhead on training end user to ignore that it exists.

Can I deploy an Enterprise license version of Adobe Acrobat Pro through a Ghost image?
I'm setting out 80 new workstations that will include Acrobat. Can I include it in my Golden Image build and successfully deploy it to the new machines?
burning adobe pro file with paths to dvd
Good morning folks,
I'm attempting to burn a PDF file to disk created in Acrobat XI (ver 11.0.13), that references files in a folder on the root of the disk. I am unable to change the file path so that when it's on a disk and given to someone else, that they are able to open the referenced file from clicking on a bookmark. I have been able to do this in the past, but I'm thinking it may have been before we upgraded our Acrobat.
Any help would be appreciated.

can acrobat std DC be deployed via the userconfig.xml as opposed to globally?
Hi,
I am sequencing Acrobat Standard DC and have followed the app-v deployment guide App-V Deployment: Acrobat DC — Enterprise Administration Guide but our VDI environment is user-based and not machine-based so deploying globally will not work.
Is there any way I can deploy using the userconfig.xml and ensure the license is activated?
customisation wizard - invalid installer package
I been having big problems using the customization wizard on OS X. I been successful using it with Acrobat DC but as soon as I try to use it with Reader DC I get “invalid installer package” whatever installer pkg I choose. I have gotten a distribution version, with permission from You, Adobe, to distribute, AcroRdrDC_1500920069_MUI. This version doesent help either. There is no custwiz.log created even. I have verified all the installers functionality by manual installs. When using customization wiz, I have done it on clean OS, clean VM. Tried fresh version of the wizard itself. Besides the version mention above I have tried offline installer, universal as well as English for OS X 10.10. Please advice and or point me to a valid installer.
Thx

How to patch Acrobat Standard DC
Trying to follow same exact steps to update Acrobat Standard DC that I've used with Acrobat Standard X and not having success. Was hoping someone could weigh in, tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I've downloaded the "base" installer (Acrobat_2015_Web_WWMUI.exe) from the Adobe Licensing website. I extract it, and am left with bunch of different files, including the AcroPro.msi file, which is version 15.006.30033 according to Orca and the Adobe Customization Wizard.
I then downloaded the latest quarterly patch (Classic Track - Acrobat2015Upd1500630094.msp) from the Adobe Downloads site.
From a command prompt, I ran the following:
msiexec /a d:\adobe\acropro.msi /update Acrobat2015Upd1500630094.msp
After a minute or so the update completes. I check the version of the AcroPro.msi file and it now reports 15.006.30094.
I deploy using Group Policy, but here is where the installation fails. There is an error message in the Windows Application log stating, "Product: Adobe Acrobat DC -- Error 1334.The file 'dropboxstorage.api' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."
I remember a while back having this problem (missing files in the Data1.cab) and it being the result of my trying to apply the quarterly patch to an already patched MSI, rather than applying the quarterly patch to the base MSI file. But as far as I can tell, that's not happening here - I'm applying the patch to the base MSI.
Thoughts?
